The warm hues of red and salmon colors on the walls and floors only add to the fiendly atmosphere of Mo's Steakhouse on Hwy. 56, east of downtown Vevay, Indiana. The family restaurant opened to rave reviews in June, 2002.

Owner Mohamed Moussa came from his homeland of Egypt to find employment in the United States. After arriving in New York City in 1979, Moussa was employed by restaurants, mainly in the Greenwich Village area. There he learned his trade as a chef. He alos met his future wife, Lori, in New York City. She was from Louisville, adn the two were anxious to be closer to home.

So, in 1987, Moussa answered and agency ad for a chef for the Ogle Haus Inn in Vevay, Indiana. The job was ideal. Moussa accepted the job and worked as a chef for the Ogle Haus until 1992. He went on to least the Elks Lodge restaurant and bar in Madison, Indiana for five years. Then he leased Dan's Marina restaurant in Warsaw, Ky. By this time, Moussa was a familiar face on the culinary scene in the area.

The Moussas realized that "Mo" had his own clientele. His customers not only followed him but urged him to open a restaurant of his own. Since the Moussas had been living in Vevay, they decided to open their own restaurant in their adopted hometown.

The restaurant staff focuses on service and fine dining in a fun, family atmospere. This atmospehere is created by the staff and thefamilies who dine there, the Moussas say. The 32 employees are one big family.

Moussa gives credit to his staff at every opportunity. "I have a great staff. Without them, I couldn't make it," he says.

The feeling is mutual. Shondra Leap, a waitress said, "Everybody's really easy to get along with . We're compatible. I can picj the days I want to work, and if I need a day off, I just have to ask.

At Mo's Steakhouse the, the top choice on the menu is steak. All USDA choice beef, house aged, is cut and cooked to order. Mo's Steakhouse is the only restaurant in the area to give the customer the ability to pick and choose the steak. Popular prime rib is available on the weekends.

Mo's also offer many fresh fish selections. Atlantic salmon is flown in and delivered directly to the restaurant. There are other fresh seafoon specials. Mild tilapia, along with a grilled mahi-mahi, add diversity to the seafoon menu. Shrimp and lobster tails are available. alsovailable vailable.
